Keep watch over yourselves and all the flock of which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers. Be shepherds of the church of God, which he bought with his own blood. (Acts 20:28)
If I asked you to watch something for me and I mentioned the high price I paid for it, you would know how important it is to me. In this verse Paul is speaking to leaders to keep watch over themselves and the flock (other believers). He emphasizes the high price that was paid for believers – the blood of Jesus. A leader needs to keep this in mind. You will encounter people who do not have the maturity or social skills you wish they did. You may be tempted to disrespect them or chase them away. Keep in mind that there is a very high price tag on them. They are greatly loved and valued by the One we serve.
